What is SAT ?

The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardised test taken by students who wish to pursue their undergraduate education in colleges and universities in the United States. It assesses the readiness of the students to study at the college and universities in the USA and Canada. SAT is developed, owned and administered by the College Board. It is a paper based, multiple choice test that evaluates mathematical, verbal, critical reading and writing skills of the students.

Why students who are applying to colleges and universities need to take SAT ?

The SAT score is used by the college admission team to evaluate the student’s readiness and to compare applicants from varied educational systems on a common ground using the score of this standardised test. The admission team has a holistic view in evaluating the student’s application by considering their GPA, credits/subjects studied, interviews in some cases, recommendation letters, college application essays, extra-curricular activities along with their SAT score.
